ABOUT FAU RUGBY CLUB
Introduction
The FAU Rugby Club exists to provide students with an opportunity to learn an exciting, physical, fast-paced, and different game. We encourage anyone with an athletic background to give rugby a try. EXPERIENCE IS NOT NECESSARY. Come on out and learn the game- we'll teach you.
Current members have backgrounds ranging from tennis to basketball to football to nothing. SIZE IS NOT A PREREQUISITE! There is a spot on the field for every size, from 5'3", 130lbs. to 6'9",280lbs--it doesn't matter. The only thing you need is a desire to practice hard and learn the game. Some of our best ruggers are the smaller guys. If you decide not to play, at least come out and support the team at games. Your support means a lot to us.
Nationally, rugby continues to grow with over 400 collegiate programs. Upon graduation from FAU, there is an unparalleled opportunity to continue play in Men's Clubs throughout North America and the world.
A little story from Men's Health.
ABOUT OUR TEAM
The FAU Men's Rugby Team is a collegiate Division II club team, which means all of our players must be FAU students in good standing. For the spring season all A-side players must be enrolled full time(12 credits). Students with less than full time status can still play, but not in an A-side match. If you would like to play and you don’t meet these requirements please come out and practice anyway. Although most of our matches are against collegiate teams, we still play against some men's clubs. Some colleges we compete against are UM, UF, FSU, FIU, UNF, USF, UCF, and Eckerd College—as for men's clubs we may play against the Boca Raton Buccaneers, Ft. Lauderdale R.F.C., Bay Area Pelicans, Miami Tridents and Palm Beach. When we travel to tournaments we often play against teams from out of state.
FAU Rugby, while deeply affiliated with the university, remains a club sport. We get funding from Student Government and from fundraising. This club status includes a board of student officers elected from within the team, enabling players to build leadership skills while taking on duties which help the growth of the club. FAU Rugby therefore offers a combination of serious intercollegiate competition, leadership opportunities and camaraderie seldom found in other athletic programs.
We play YEAR-ROUND, so feel free to come by and watch a practice or one of our games, or contact us with any questions at any time. We are always accepting new players.

Social Life
In addition to high-quality athletics, members of the FAURFC are able to experience a social atmosphere that is unique to rugby players around the world. It is custom for the home team to host a party after every match, where both teams get together and socialize, putting all game-time differences aside.
The social aspect of the game is just as important as the athletics, and it is something that can't be described- only experienced.
Practices
A lot of students become discouraged by how hard our practices are. They are hard, but as long as you try your hardest you shouldn't worry too much about your performance.
Before anyone can practice with us they have to download and fill out the forms on the Players Page(above). Bring them with you to practice.
Summer 7's: We play 7's during the summer months.
Fall/Spring: During the school year practices are on various days, but mostly on Tuesday and Thursday nights. The backs and forwards each practice separately one other night a week, on a night which they decide upon each semester.
