New Updates 10-27-07
Finally, some history is starting to come back as to how this club was formed.
Gustavo Pavone, an FAU Rugby Alumni Hooker from the early 90s has a lot of information on his site, including past alumni players and photos. www.floridarugbypictures.com
A big thanks to Nigel Lobo,93--President and captain from 91 to 93 for providing a little bit of history to something that has shaped many student over the years.
FAU Rugby Football Club was started in the late 80s by a couple of English students with the chief instigator being Bing Towne. Bing not only served as the coach, but also the administrator, travel consultant and mentor to many of the students. Ian House was also one of the first FAU Rugby Club President's and started the club with Bing and Joe Brandtt.
There are countless others out there that have played a part in where the club is today. Nigel provided a list of the following guys he remembered during his time with FAU.

The following is part of an e-mail by FAU Rugby Alumni Nigel Lobo.
Sorry I could not remember some of the last names, but we always had a great time wherever we played. We even toured a few times back in the day . One trip to the Bahamas was very memorable with a few broken bones on the way back and no sleep over three days but we played better every day.
My most memorable experience was a state semi against a very powerful UF team where we had the lead until the final minute of the game. We lost the game 17-15 but no one hung their heads in shame. We played our hearts out and we played as a team and gained respect from our opponents that day.
I do have a photo attached the team signed. I am the 4th from the left in the back row.
Congratulations on the recent success and keeping the game going and doing my old team proud.
Cheers and regards to all that may remember the times.
Nigel Lobo, ' 93
