How do we pay the bills?

The FAU Men’s Rugby Club is a registered club at the University and receives some funding through Student Government.  Being a sports club we do not receive funding like other sports, i.e. football, baseball, soccer, etc.  We pay dues every season, and often have to pay our own way to get to tournaments and games.  We also end up having to pay out of pocket or make equipment ourselves (with the skillful help of the Ocean Engineering Machine Shop head machinist, Fred Knapp).  Our coaches donate their time and expertise for the love of the game.  

As we improve and strive to be a powerful rugby squad in Florida, we need additional funds and support from our friends in the community.

Tax- deductible donations of any amount can be made to The FAU Men’s Rugby Club through the FAU Foundation account.  

The Florida Atlantic University Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit entity housed within University Advancement.  A 501(c)(3) charitable organization under the laws of the State of Florida, the Foundation benefits the achievement of the University’s goals.  The governance of the Foundation, including its investments, is entrusted to the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

We also can take donations in-kind.  If you think your product may be of help to us please don’t hesitate to offer or ask.  We need everything from tents to shade us on hot Florida days, to coolers to keep our water cool on those days. The list could go on and on.

Our expenses will only become more pressing as time goes by and we continue to grow. The club is prepared to offer advertising for your company or organization at all our home and away games and even on our uniforms. In return for your support, we are prepared to play a role in your marketing around our campus and our community.

In addition to being leaders on the rugby pitch, FAU Rugby players are leaders in the classroom and throughout the community.  Being a totally student run organization, FAU Rugby players handle many task that most college athletes never touch on, be it a burden or a privilege is something the student determines for themselves—and most likely will not be recognized until later in life.  

FAU Rugby players are also involved in the community. Our student-athletes support dozens of nonprofit organizations, such as the American Red Cross, Engineers Without Borders, YMCA and Relay for life.
